Positive Behaviour Support (PBS)
Good Standing
All students start the year with Good Standing. To keep it, they are expected to follow our SMART expectations – to be Safe, Motivated to Achieve, Respectful and Trustworthy – in the classroom, playground and around the school.
Students with Good Standing will be able to take part in special events such as reward days, excursions, sporting events and other fun activities.
Students may lose their Good Standing if they are involved in repeated inappropriate behaviour or are suspended. It can be earned back after a period of positive behaviour, with support from staff.
Positive Behaviour Support
Koorana Primary School has developed and implemented Positive Behaviour Support over a number of years. PBS builds on existing strengths and complements other health and wellbeing based programs and strategies.
Positive Behaviour Support recognises the importance of creating classrooms with high academic engagement, supporting an integrated approach to behaviour, learning and teaching.
PBS interventions are research-based, proven to significantly reduce the occurrence of problem behaviours in schools and supported by a three-tiered model.
